Avoid Buying a Flood-Damaged Vehicle

Hundreds of thousands of vehicles were flooded by the recent hurricanes in Texas and Florida. Many of these vehicles will soon be for sale on the used car market. While a seller may make all kinds of promises about such a vehicle, there is no such thing as a good deal on a flood-damaged vehicle. Despite the fact that flood-damaged vehicles should be identified as such, there are all kinds of illegal schemes for getting damaged vehicles re-titled with non-salvage titles. Over the years we have seen many flood-damaged vehicles and in most cases our customers had no idea the vehicle had been flooded. When cars are flooded it is generally the electrical systems that take the worst hit. Repairing water-damaged electronics is terribly expensive. Picture throwing your computer or television into a lake. If you’re in the market for a vehicle, be extremely cautious. Check for musty smells or a muddy water line under the seats and in the trunk. If you find a vehicle you’re particularly interested in, please have us perform a Pre-Purchase Inspection. Here is a link to our website for more details: http://www.tmwauto.com/BuyingAUsedCar2

Good luck out there, Rick
